DENSE REFRACTORY CASTABLES
Dense refractory castables are mixes of grained compounds and refractory cements which by hardening gets into artificial stone, able to maintain the foreseen mechanical characteristics during the action in time of high temperatures.The silica-alumina refractory castables,generally,have as a common binder the refractory cement with hydraulic setting.
As grained compound is generally used a well sinterised material( vitrified) or electrically melted,at grain size defined , according to the way of how castables are applied (casting or gunning).
THE PROPERTIES OF DENSE REFRACTORY CASTABLES
Refractory castables must have a hardening fast enough,at ambience temperature,as to lose strength gradually during heating, until the decomposition loss of hydrating materials, formed during hardening ,and then to increase its strength at higher temperatures as a following of its partial sintering,and to resist thermal schocks,to have a good refractoriness,small shrinkage at drying and firing,and to have an enough, great start of deformation under load.
