REFRACTORY MASSES
Refractory masses are mixes of plastic fireclay and refractory compounds with chemical binders.
Refractory compounds are mainly the same as in case of castables.
After outlook and application method, refractory masses are classified as :
Plastic refractory masses (in grain form, lumps, wet, ready for work and apllication by easy stamping).
Refractory masses (as a mix,wet by the chemical binder and water, in the moment of using either by pneumatic or manual stamping,or by vibration).
Advantages :
Unlike castables, these masses can be successfully used at molten metal bath contact too.
They can be also used for the repair of old used linings, permitting thus their life increasing
Application
Metallurgical industry (ferrous/non-ferrous)
Machine building industry
